Rules and Information

Each year the Tekne Awards shine a spotlight on Minnesota’s technology industry. Drawing over 1,000 attendees, including our state’s most influential businesses, political leaders and individuals, the Tekne Awards honor advancement in technology areas including advanced manufacturing, information and medical technologies, and biological sciences.

May 1: Applications Open

July 9: Application Deadline - EXTENDED!
September 8
: Finalists Announced
November 3: Tekne Awards Celebration

 

ELIGIBILITY

Technology companies and individuals doing business in Minnesota, as well as Non-Profit or Higher Education institutions are eligible to apply. The majority of the work and team, for which the application is being submitted, must be Minnesota-based.

 

COMPANY DESIGNATIONS

Applicants will designate either “Small & Growing” category or “Established” category for most awards. Read more about the categories on our Award Categories page.

 
Small & Growing Companies – must be less than $50 Million in revenue. Companies should exemplify an entrepreneurial spirit and strive for economic growth through technology development and/or application.

 
Established Companies – must be over $50 Million in revenue. Those eligible include a company or division of a company whose entrepreneurial culture, success and contribution to Minnesota’s technology-based economy exemplifies the best of Minnesota’s technology community.

TEKNE JUDGING PROCESS

Each year a group of outstanding business leaders volunteer their time, energies, and expertise to assist in selecting the Tekne Award finalists and recipients. Ranging from legal professionals to entrepreneurs and past recipients, the unbiased selection committee gathers to thoroughly review and discuss each application.
